Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Confectioners’ sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix together flour, melted butter, and 1/4 cup sugar until a dough forms. Press into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Bake the crust for 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from oven and set aside.
- In a saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until just simmering.
- In a separate bowl, whisk cornstarch, 1/2 cup sugar, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and salt. Gradually whisk in the hot milk.
- Return mixture to saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Pour the custard over the baked crust and spread evenly.
- Let the custard set in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Once set, cut into squares and dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving.
