  • Author: Dorothy Miller

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pasta of choice (penne or rigatoni works well)
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage, cooked and drained
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. In a crock pot, layer half of the cooked pasta, followed by half of the marinara sauce, half of the cooked beef or sausage, half of the ricotta mixture, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, marinara sauce, beef or sausage, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
