  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith and Honeycrisp mix)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the apple mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, mix the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Pour in the melted butter and stir until crumbly and well combined.
  6. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  8. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For extra crunch, add 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts to the oat topping. Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 4 days.
