A perfectly chewy, crispy-edged chocolate chip cookie with rich flavor and plenty of melty chocolate chunks.

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually blend into the creamed mixture. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts if using.
  4. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
