For the Crust:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chunks
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Gradually blend in the flour mixture until just combined. Fold in chocolate chunks and walnuts if using.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes; remove to wire rack.
