A classic sweet potato casserole topped with a crunchy pecan streusel, perfect for holiday gatherings or comforting family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 4 large sweet potatoes)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, granulated sugar, eggs, melted butter, milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the sweet potato mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, softened butter, and chopped pecans until crumbly to form the streusel topping.
  5. Sprinkle the pecan streusel evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, use freshly mashed sweet potatoes. Toasting the pecans before mixing into the streusel enhances their flavor and adds extra crunch.
