For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 2 tbsp brown sugar (for topping)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in diced apples, then pour batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool before serving.
