Street Style Masala Macaroni

Spicy and flavorful Indian street-style macaroni pasta cooked with mixed vegetables and aromatic masala spices.

  • 1.25 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon oil (for boiling macaroni)
  • 1 teaspoon oil (for cooking)
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup cabbage, chopped
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt (extra)
  • Pinch turmeric powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 1/4 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. Boil macaroni in water with salt and a little oil for 8-10 minutes until soft. Drain and rinse with cold water.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, sauté garlic and green chili until fragrant.
  3. Add onions and cook until soft.
  4. Add cabbage and grated carrot, cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Mix in extra salt, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala, and tomato ketchup. Stir well.
  6. Add boiled macaroni and toss everything well together.
  7. Sprinkle chaat masala, black pepper powder, and chopped coriander leaves. Mix and serve hot.

Notes

This recipe is very versatile—feel free to use any mixed vegetables you prefer. Adjust chili according to taste for milder or spicier results. Tomato ketchup adds a pleasant tang and slight sweetness balancing the spices.
