For the Crust:

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed French onion soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) beef broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a 9×9 inch baking dish, combine rice, butter (cut into pats), condensed French onion soup, beef broth, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  3. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven, fluff rice with a fork, and let stand covered for 5 minutes before serving.
