For the Crust:

  • 1 (30 oz) package frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cream of onion soup
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup crushed sour cream and onion potato chips (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together hash browns, sour cream, condensed soup, cheddar cheese, melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
  5. If using, sprinkle crushed sour cream and onion potato chips over the top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  6. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
