For the Crust:

- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 3/4 cup warm water
- Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add warm water, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 2 minutes, then cover and let rest for 20 minutes.
- Roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into squares or triangles.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet to 375°F (190°C). Fry the dough pieces until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels and serve warm with honey or dusted with powdered sugar.
