Pumpkin Scones

Deliciously spiced pumpkin scones with a light, tender crumb and a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
  3. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, mix pumpkin puree, heavy cream, egg, and vanilla. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, and pat into a 1-inch thick circle. Cut into 8 wedges.
  6. Place scones on prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden. Cool before glazing.

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
