Pepper Steak with Bell Peppers and Onion

A savory stir-fry dish featuring tender beef, crisp bell peppers, and onions in a rich sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, mix the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sugar. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over high heat. Add the marinated steak and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining 1 tbsp of oil to the pan. Stir-fry the bell peppers, onion, and garlic for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.
  4. Return the steak to the pan and pour in the beef broth. Stir well and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Season with black pepper, stir, and serve hot over rice or noodles.
