Orange Bars Recipe

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice (about 2 oranges)
  • zest of 1 large orange orange zest
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×9 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the softened butter and eggs until smooth. Add the fresh orange juice and orange zest, mixing until incorporated.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, gently folding until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, cut into 12 bars. Dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.
