Million Dollar Lasagna

A rich and creamy lasagna layered with savory meat sauce, three types of cheese, and a smooth cream cheese mixture. This comfort food classic is perfect for family dinners and potlucks.

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1.25 lbs Italian sausage or ground beef
  • 1 (24 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 (24 oz) container cottage cheese
  • 1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened
  • 0.25 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp dried parsley
  • 1 lb mozzarella cheese slices
  • 0.5 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Brown sausage in a skillet over medium heat; drain. Stir in spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning. Simmer over low heat for 5 to 10 minutes until sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
  4. In a bowl, combine cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, egg, and parsley. Set aside.
  5. Lightly spray a 9×13-inch pan with cooking spray. Spread 1 cup meat sauce in the bottom.
  6. Top sauce with 6 lasagna noodles lengthwise and overlapping to cover.
  7. Top noodles with half of the cottage cheese mixture, then one-third of mozzarella cheese. Spoon half of remaining meat sauce over cheese; sprinkle with 0.25 cup parmesan.
  8. Repeat layering with 6 lasagna noodles, remaining cottage cheese mixture, one-third of mozzarella, remaining meat sauce, and 0.25 cup parmesan.
  9. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese. Cover with foil.
  10. Bake covered for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered an additional 30 minutes until bubbly.
  11. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

This lasagna can be assembled ahead and refrigerated or frozen for later baking. For best results, let the meat sauce simmer to develop flavors. The dish is perfect for family dinners, potlucks, and serving with a green salad and garlic toast.
