For the Crust:
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet instant yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup water, warmed
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- Zest of 2 lemons
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp milk
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, water, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Roll dough into a 12×9 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over dough, then sprinkle with sugar and lemon zest.
- Roll dough tightly from the long end. Cut into 9 slices and place in a greased 9×9 pan. Cover and let rise 30 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden. Cool slightly, then drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar, lemon juice, and milk.
