Lemon Sweet Rolls

Soft, fluffy sweet rolls filled with zesty lemon and topped with a tangy lemon glaze.


Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup water, warmed
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, water, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  3. Roll dough into a 12×9 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over dough, then sprinkle with sugar and lemon zest.
  4. Roll dough tightly from the long end. Cut into 9 slices and place in a greased 9×9 pan. Cover and let rise 30 minutes.
  5. Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden. Cool slightly, then drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar, lemon juice, and milk.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
