Jalapeño Popper Patty Melt

A delicious twist on the classic patty melt featuring jalapeño popper filling with creamy cheese and spicy jalapeños combined with seasoned ground beef patties on toasted bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds 80/20 ground chuck
  • SPG (Salt, Pepper, Garlic) rub, to taste
  • 6 slices of pepper jack cheese
  • 4 slices of Texas toast buns
  • 4 oz softened cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped jalapeños
  • 1/4 cup crumbled bacon (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the jalapeño popper mixture by combining softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped jalapeños, and crumbled bacon. Mix until smooth and season with salt and pepper. Keep chilled until ready to use.
  2. Form the ground chuck into 1/3-pound burger balls and use a burger press to smash each ball into a flat patty.
  3. Generously season the patties with SPG rub on both sides.
  4. Preheat the griddle until very hot and cook the patties until cooked through.
  5. Toast the Texas toast buns until golden brown.
  6. To assemble, place the double-stacked patties on the toasted bottom slice of Texas toast and add a generous scoop of the jalapeño popper mixture on top of the patties.
  7. Add the top slice of Texas toast and press down gently to bring everything together.

Notes

The jalapeño popper mixture should be creamy and slightly spicy, balancing the richness of the beef. Allow flavors to meld by keeping the mixture chilled before use. This recipe has an easy difficulty level.
