Hot Fudge Pie

A warm, gooey, chocolate-lover’s dream with a rich, molten center and perfect balance of chocolate and sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup Dutch processed unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee powder (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Set the unbaked pie crust aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar well until combined.
  3. Add melted butter, Dutch processed cocoa, flour, vanilla extract, instant coffee powder (if using), and a pinch of salt to the egg mixture. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust.
  5. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until the filling is set and the top is slightly crusty.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before cutting. The filling will rise during baking and fall as it cools.

Notes

Using Dutch processed cocoa and a touch of instant coffee powder enhances the chocolate flavor. Allow the pie to cool fully for the best texture. This pie is delicious served warm or at room temperature.
