A classic, zesty homemade Italian dressing perfect for salads, marinades, or drizzling over vegetables. This easy recipe combines pantry staples for a fresh, tangy flavor that beats store-bought every time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl or jar, combine olive oil, red wine vinegar, and lemon juice.
  2. Add honey, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, oregano, basil, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  3. Whisk or shake vigorously until well combined and emulsified.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired.
  5. Store in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Shake well before each use.

Notes

For best flavor, let the dressing sit for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. You can substitute white wine vinegar for red wine vinegar if preferred. Adjust the honey and lemon juice to taste for a sweeter or tangier dressing.
