Hershey’s Chocolate Cake

A rich and moist chocolate cake made with Hershey’s cocoa powder, perfect for any chocolate lover.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 13/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup Hershey's cocoa powder
  • 11/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 11/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
  5. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
  6. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  7. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely before frosting.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality Hershey’s cocoa powder. The batter will be thin, but this is normal and results in a moist cake. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
