Fried Cabbage

Description

A simple and flavorful Southern-style fried cabbage dish that pairs well with any meal.

For the Crust:

  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving drippings in the pan.
  2. Add butter to the bacon drippings and melt. Sauté onion and garlic until softened, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add chopped cabbage, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
  4. Cook cabbage, stirring occasionally, until tender and slightly caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Stir in reserved bacon and serve warm.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
