Southern Fried Apples

Sweet apples fried in butter, sugar, and cinnamon, perfect as a topping for pancakes, oatmeal, vanilla ice cream, or served alongside savory dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 4 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or any firm baking apple)

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a heavy skillet over medium heat.
  2. Stir in sugar and cinnamon; cook until sugar is melted and a sauce is formed.
  3. Add peeled and sliced apples to the pan.
  4. Cook apples until softened and just starting to break down, about 10 minutes.
  5. Serve hot, optionally garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon or topped with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Use firm baking apples like Granny Smith for best texture. This dish is versatile and can be served as a sweet side or dessert topping.
