For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs in batches until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly until smooth.
- Stir in heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer for another 5 minutes to heat through. Serve warm.
