Easy Shepherd’s Pie

A comforting and hearty dish made with ground beef, vegetables, and a creamy mashed potato topping.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion, carrots, and garlic to the skillet. Cook until vegetables soften.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add frozen peas and cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish. Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the top.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Notes
