Easy Hamburger Potato Casserole

A comforting and easy-to-make casserole combining ground beef, potatoes, and cheese for a hearty family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 cups frozen diced potatoes
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in frozen diced potatoes, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes or until potatoes are tender and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a creamier casserole, you can add a little sour cream or cream cheese to the mixture before baking. Using fresh potatoes requires a longer baking time. This dish pairs well with a simple green salad.
