Dry Fruit Barfi

A delicious and healthy Indian dessert made with dates and various nuts, perfect for Diwali celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup seedless dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/2 cup chopped cashews + pistachios + walnuts
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/2 tsp poppy seeds
  • 2 tbsp chopped anjeer (optional)
  • 2 tbsp raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grind the seedless dates coarsely in a mixer without adding water.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan and sauté the ground dates paste for about 5 minutes until it turns like dough.
  3. Coarsely grind the nuts (cashews, pistachios, walnuts) and almonds separately.
  4. Mix the sautéed dates paste with the powdered nuts and almonds.
  5. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
  6. Sprinkle poppy seeds over the mixture and shape into a barfi or roll.
  7. Refrigerate for at least an hour before cutting into pieces.

Notes

Ensure the quantity of dates is equal to or more than the nuts for better binding. Refrigeration helps in setting the barfi shape.
