Sweet and crunchy apple fries coated with cinnamon sugar and lightly crisped in the air fryer, perfect as a snack or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and cut into ½ inch wedges
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon apple pie spice
  • 5 tablespoons ground cinnamon, divided
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • Olive oil nonstick cooking spray
  • Caramel sauce or powdered sugar glaze (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Peel the apples and cut them in half, then slice into ½ inch wedges.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, apple pie spice, and 4 tablespoons of cinnamon.
  3. Transfer the flour mixture to a container with a lid, add apple wedges, cover, and shake vigorously to coat all sides.
  4. Remove apple wedges with a slotted spoon, shaking off excess flour mixture, and place on a plate.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and vanilla extract.
  6. Dredge apple wedges in the egg mixture.
  7. Return wedges to the flour mixture container, cover, and shake again to create a second coating.
  8. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and remaining 1 tablespoon cinnamon.
  9. Spray air fryer basket with olive oil spray. Place coated apple wedges in a single layer in the basket.
  10. Spray the top of the apples with olive oil spray and sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over them.
  11. Air fry at 350°F for 6 minutes.
  12. Flip the apple wedges, spray again with olive oil spray, and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar mixture.
  13. Air fry for an additional 6 minutes until crispy.
  14. Serve warm with caramel sauce or powdered sugar glaze if desired.

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Gala or Honeycrisp. The double coating ensures a crispy texture. Serve immediately for optimal crispness or reheat briefly in the air fryer.
