Sweet and crunchy apple fries coated with cinnamon sugar and cooked to perfection in the air fryer, perfect as a snack or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large apples, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch wedges
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon apple pie spice
  • 5 tablespoons ground cinnamon, divided
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • Olive oil nonstick cooking spray
  • Caramel sauce or powdered sugar glaze (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Peel the apples and cut them in half, then slice into 1/2 inch wedges.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, apple pie spice, and 4 tablespoons of cinnamon.
  3. Transfer the flour mixture to a container with a lid, add apple wedges, cover, and shake vigorously to coat all sides.
  4. Remove apple wedges with a slotted spoon, shaking off excess flour mixture, and place on a plate.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and vanilla extract together.
  6. Dredge apple wedges in the egg mixture a few at a time.
  7. Return the wedges to the flour mixture container and shake again to create a second coating.
  8. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and remaining 1 tablespoon cinnamon; set aside.
  9. Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray and place coated apple wedges in a single layer.
  10. Spray the top of the apples with olive oil spray and sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over them.
  11. Cook at 350°F for 6 minutes.
  12. Flip the apples, spray again with olive oil spray, sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar mixture, and cook for another 6 minutes.
  13. Serve warm with caramel sauce or powdered sugar glaze if desired.

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Gala or Honeycrisp. The double coating ensures a crispy texture. Serve immediately for optimal crispness or reheat briefly in the air fryer.
