A moist and flavorful banana bread recipe with walnuts for added texture and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  4. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in.
  6. Add the flour last and stir until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chopped walnuts if using.
  8. Pour the batter into a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use very ripe bananas with brown spots. You can substitute walnuts with pecans or omit nuts for a nut-free version. Store banana bread wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
