For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 6 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cans (15 oz each) pork and beans
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet with the beef. Cook until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the pork and beans, kidney beans, black beans, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the cooked bacon before serving.
