Cheesy Sloppy Joe Garlic Toast

A delicious twist on classic sloppy joes, featuring a savory, tangy beef mixture topped with melted cheddar cheese on crispy garlic toast for a quick and satisfying comfort meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ yellow onion, diced
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 8 frozen garlic toast slices
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a hot skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and chopped onions. Cook until no pink is visible in the meat, breaking it up as it cooks, then drain off any leftover grease.
  2. Lower the heat to medium and stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined and bring to a simmer.
  3. Place the garlic toast on a baking sheet, then top each piece with some of the sloppy joe mixture followed by shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Bake at 400°F for 10-15 minutes or until the bread is warm and the cheese is melted.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider browning the meat with slightly more onion. This recipe is highly adaptable—you can substitute ground turkey for a lighter option or use store-bought sloppy joe sauce to save time. The cheese can be broiled for a few minutes at the end if you prefer extra browning.
