Cheddar and Bacon Turkey Melt on Sourdough

A savory sandwich featuring layers of sliced turkey, crispy bacon, and melted cheddar cheese on toasted sourdough bread, perfect for a quick lunch or simple dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 1/2 lb thin sliced deli turkey breast
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons mustard
  • Butter for spreading on bread
  • Optional: tomato slices, lettuce

Instructions

  1. Lay out 4 slices of bread and spread a layer of mayonnaise and mustard on each slice.
  2. Add 1 slice of cheddar cheese, followed by a few slices of turkey, 2 slices of cooked bacon, and a tomato slice if desired.
  3. Top with the remaining bread slices and spread butter evenly on the outer sides of the bread.
  4. Heat a skillet or griddle to medium heat (or use a panini press).
  5. Place the sandwiches on the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Cut sandwiches in half and add lettuce if desired just before serving to keep it crisp.

Notes

Use different flavors of deli turkey and cheddar cheese for variety. Adding candied jalapenos can enhance the flavor. Adding lettuce after grilling keeps it crisp.
