Easy Homemade Caramel Sauce

  • Author: Dorothy Miler

Description

A rich, buttery caramel sauce that’s perfect for drizzling over desserts, ice cream, or adding to coffee.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Heat sugar in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts and turns amber in color.
  2. Carefully add butter and whisk continuously until completely melted and combined.
  3. Slowly pour in heavy cream while whisking constantly (mixture will bubble vigorously).
  4. Continue cooking for 1 minute, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and sea salt.
  5. Let cool slightly before transferring to a jar. Sauce will thicken as it cools.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
