Classic Banana Bread

A moist and delicious banana bread made with ripe bananas and walnuts for added texture and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 or 4 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  4. Stir in the mashed bananas.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; then add to the banana mixture and mix just until combined.
  6. Fold in the walnuts if using.
  7. Pour batter into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness and flavor. Do not overmix batter to keep the bread tender. Walnuts add nice crunch but can be omitted for nut-free version.
