Awesome Country Apple Fritter Bread

Description

A moist, spiced apple bread swirled with cinnamon sugar and topped with a sweet glaze, reminiscent of classic apple fritters.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  3. Alternately add flour mixture and milk to butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in diced apples.
  4. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Pour half the batter into pan, sprinkle with half the cinnamon sugar, add remaining batter, and top with remaining sugar.
  5. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  6. Whisk powdered sugar and milk to make glaze; drizzle over cooled bread before serving.
