For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light. Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Stir in sour cream.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet until just combined. Fold in diced apples.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts (if using). Sprinkle half over batter, swirl gently, then top with remaining mixture.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool before serving.
